Socorro NM - Bosque and Bernardo
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is regarded as one of North Americas top destinations for bird photography; however, during our brief visit, severe drought conditions were adversely affecting many areas within the refuge normally favored by geese and cranes. Fortunately, 25 miles north of Bosque another site called Bernardo Wildlife Management Area was attracting cranes and geese in large numbers to feed during the daylight hours. Whitewater Draw WA in AZ provided additional opportunities to photograph crane behavior so images from here are also included in this gallery.
