Chyenne Bottoms and Quivira NWR, March 2020
Migratory birds near Great Bend, KS at:
Quivira National Wildlife Refuge
http://www.fws.gov/refuge/quivira
and
Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area
https://ksoutdoors.com/KDWPT-Info/Locations/Wildlife-Areas/Southwest/Cheyenne-Bottoms
We are usually pretty averse to getting up before dawn and heading out into cold weather, but the experience we had at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge was absolutely worth it! We plan to visit these sites again during different seasons.

A few early rising Sandhill Cranes depart Quivira National WIldlife Reserve to feed, though most of them seem to prefer to wait until after sunrise.
