Craig Crossing Park & Mill Creek Streamway, Lenexa, KS Spring 2020
The park is situated along the Mill Creek Streamway and is one of 7 access points to the 17 mile long Gary Haller Trail, so it can be a busy place at times. The area is not only popular with people but with birds and wildlife too.
DISCLOSURE: Contains lots of Heron photos.
Eager to Eat, As Always _D853326
May 23: A few weeks ago there were 4 chicks in this nest but now there are three. They're nearly mature and will soon be as big as their parents - if only they can get enough food. They begin squawking in unison immediately upon seeing a returning parent - and they never mistake who their parents are! They can hardly wait to see what is in store for them!
Meanwhile, the Sycamore Tree in which the herons reside is really starting to leaf out and the underbrush where we typically position ourselves is becoming very dense. As a result, our access and view is becoming increasingly more restricted.
